Long Term Care Insurance Division

Don’t overlook this essential part of retirement planning. In 2007, 12 of the 34 million elderly Americans required some form of long term care; by 2050, the U.S. is expected to have more than 80 million elderly citizens, 20 million of whom are expected to need long term care.1

Long Term Care is defined as a range of medical and/or social services designed to help people who have disabilities or chronic care needs – the type of help required when someone can no longer perform “Activities of Daily Living” (dressing, bathing, transferring, toileting, eating, continence). Typical health care coverage doesn’t cover long term care and you must impoverish yourself to qualify for Medicaid. The national average cost for a nursing home semi-private room is $64,605 annually or $177 daily.2
